60 percent e-shoppers trust social media - Study

Peer reviews an important aspect of making buying decisions

A Frost and Sullivan study has revealed that 60 percent of shoppers, between the age-group of 18-35 years, rely on social media for making their shopping decisions.

A report in The Hindu Business Line quoting the study said that 60 per cent of the users, in the urban areas spend four hours or more on the internet. It also said that 60 million people are registered on Facebook and 20 million on LinkedIn.

According to the study, people make their purchase decisions according to reviews given on social media. 40 per cent of the online shoppers indicated that their online shopping budgets would increase in the next 12-15 months.

The report quoted Vidya Nath, Research Director at Frost and Sullivan as saying that companies should invest more research in social media to boost their sales by understanding customer preferences.
