In a bid to do away with almost 2000 used electronic goods collected from various government offices, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) held its first electronic auction. The auction lasted for 24 hours and the civic body netted a profit of nearly Rs 7.35 lakh.

The items up for bidding in the e-auction included printers, obsolete photocopy machines and computers. The municipal commissioner, Guruprasad Mohapatra, told DNA, a newspaper, that this is the first time the civic body tried auctioning on the web though they weren't sure about the response initially. The collection was bagged by one of the three bidders who had participated.
