Despite vehement opposition  from Delhi Unversity Teacher's Association (DUTA), the DU premises will soon see biometric systems installed to mark teacher's attendance. The measure is being taken as an attempt to check the teacher absenteeism. It is being said that the devices would be installed in the next two months.

The highest decision-making group of the university, the executive council, on Saturday passed a resolution giving DU vice chancellor a go-ahead in the matter.

Notably, the biometric attendance has been implemented for the non-teaching staff; the proposal to implement the same for the teaching staff was put on the backburner in the wake of opposition from the teachers’ unions across the state. Also, the DUTA vehemently opposed the implementation of the biometric system in its statements.
