A criminal case on Sunday was registered against an unidentified person for posting pictures related to various religions in an objectionable and distorted manner on the social networking site Facebook, Indore police said.

"We have received complaints that the distorted pictures belonging to various religions are being posted on the Facebook through a profile with a link," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Crime, Jitendra Singh said, adding efforts are on to trace the accused.

Prima facie it appears that the pictures were distorted with the help of software and later they were clubbed with objectionable photos and loaded on the Facebook.

A case has been registered against an unidentified person under section 295 A (hurting religious sentiments) of IPC and relevant sections of the IT Act, on the complaint of one Matin Multani.
