RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday alleged that the e-governance plan of the Bihar government was increasing unemployment in the state by eating into the job opportunities.

Addressing people during the 'Parivartan Yatra' in Purnia, Prasad accused Kumar of being "unsympathetic" towards youths by putting to use technology in administrative work with an aim to cut down manpower.

Prasad, who is currently touring state's Seemanchal districts, also slammed the Nitish government for its policy of hiring workforce on contract basis.

He also accused Kumar of "jeopardising livelihood" of the younger generation by hiring work force on contract in the state where there were "not many avenues" of employment.

"The NDA government in Bihar has become a government of contract," he said, referring to the large scale hiring of employees on contract in recent years, including over 2.5 lakh panchayat school teachers.

The former railway minister alleged that many projects in Bihar that he had conceived under the master plan during his tenure had been "buried" by his successors.

Had these projects been completed, it would have created employment opportunities for the local people, he claimed.

The RJD leader criticised Chief Minister Kumar's "silence" over recent arrests of Muslim youths on "fabricated" terror charges by the police and security agencies of other states.

"Kumar's silence on arrest of Muslim youths on fabricated terror charges is baffling as he claims to be a secular leader," he said.
