GIC launches electronic trading platform

To enable electronic business process flow, that is, placement, claims, accounting and settlement which are integral to trade between any reinsurer and producers

Reinsurance major General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) on Tuesday launched an electronic trading platform for business associates. 'eThru' is an efficient, transparent and prompt trading platform between the corporation and its business associates, the company said.

"With this launch, we are providing a fully electronic trading platform for business," GIC Chairman-cum-Managing Director Yogesh Lohiya said here. This will enable electronic business process flow, that is, placement, claims, accounting and settlement which are integral to trade between any reinsurer and producers, he said.

It was inaugurated by IRDA Chairman J Hari Narayan. eThru will focus on providing the business partners a web interface for submission of transaction data and would involve leveraging technology to build a more direct system-to-system connectivity with business partners, Lohiya said. The initiative has been launched in partnership with SAP India.
