Govt to complete NKN project in a year

Project aims to integrate 1,500 research and academic institutions

The government's ambitious national knowledge network project will be implemented within a year.

The Rs 5,000-crore project aims to integrate 1,500 research and academic institutions to enable research students and others to interact and keep themselves abreast of development in their respective areas, according to a PTI report.

The report quoted R Chidambaram, principal scientific advisor to the union government, saying that the project would enable building quality institutes, generate research faculties and best professional training centres.

Speaking at the foundation day ceremony of Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, Chidambaram said, "They (institutes) would be linked with European Union Grid for exchange of knowledge, based on science, technology and biotechnology for bilateral research and development."
