With an aim to improve law and order situation, a database of drivers, security personnel and employees working in private companies located in Gurgaon will be prepared by the police.

While such a rough database will be ready by this month end, the final database would be available by March 2011, Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal today said here in an official release.

He said a meeting of BPOs, IT companies and transporters representatives will be held after two months so as to discuss and resolve problems faced by them in preparing the database.

Deswal said a company or institution was responsible for getting the identity of its employees verified.

"The company will have to get the antecedents or credentials of the manpower working with it verified. They have to devise the ways for verification and the police cannot verify the credentials of all the employees working in private companies," he said.

Deswal said the database of drivers will be prepared by the transporters with whom drivers are employed and the IT companies where the drivers are providing their services will facilitate in preparation of such a database.

"During the process, the finger prints on biometric device, photo and scanned copy of driving licence will be taken. The Nasscom would chalk out the methodology as the BPOs and IT companies would be uploading the database on the website of Nasscom, which would then supply the database to Gurgaon police," he said.

The police Commissioner further said the database can be accessed by all the companies. Names and photos of tainted drivers will be uploaded on the website.

"Similar type of database of security personnel employed in various security agencies will also be got prepared," he said.

He said companies should deploy reliable drivers to ferry women employees to and from their homes. Women staff should not be dropped at or picked up from any other place except their homes.

On security agencies, Deswal said the state government has enforced rules under which such agencies have to obtain licenses. About 50 security agencies in Gurgaon have applied for the license and 25 of them will get them by December 15.

The names of licensed security agencies will be put on the website of Gurgaon Police.
