HP using IT enabled AGRISNET services for agri-consultancy

Portal provides market information to farmers

Himachal Pradesh is emerging as one of the pioneer states in the use of IT enabled services and providing agri-consultancy through AGRISNET, designed primarily to provide specialized information to suit the needs of farmers, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said.

In his inaugural address at the two-day regional conference on 'Improving Public Service Delivery and Role of e-Governance' in HP Institute of Public Administration here, he said AGRISNET portal also provided market information and online forms for vrious central and state government schemes in agriculture and allied sectors.

The chief minister said that HP happened to be the first state in the country to set up and operationalise a Himachal State Wide Area Network, HIMSWAN, to provide connectivity to various government departments and field offices and had won two Web Ratna Awards for Police Portal and Web-Portal.
