Infosys BPO, a subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, today said it has bagged a deal from IT firm Global Group to provide services in the field of information technology for a period of 20 months.

"Post-completion of setting up a shared service centre (SSC), it is expected that the unit would accommodate more than 1,000 personnel," Infosys BPO said in a statement.

Global Group, which owns telecom infrastructure firms GTL Ltd and GTL Infra, has decided to engage Infosys BPO -- the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies -- to provide services with regard to setting up of the SSC.

The SSC is responsible for execution and handling of specific operational tasks, including accounting, human resources, payroll, IT, legal, compliance, purchasing, and security.

However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

As part of the deal, Infosys BPO will provide consulting and implementation services across key functions, including finance and accounting, human resources, sourcing and procurement, sales and fulfilment, legal services and IT.

The scope of work includes assessment, design and implementation services, coupled with operational support, to be provided for a period of 20 months.

"This deal reiterates our focus on the domestic business in India and value-addition to businesses and clients in India. We continue to view the domestic market as high potential and look at growing our offerings in this developing market," Infosys BPO Business Unit Head (India Business) S Vaitheeswaran said.

Global Group is engaged in network services and telecom tower infrastructure businesses.
