IT@School to empower differently abled students

IT@School project, a state government sponsored initiative to popularise information and communications technology, has developed a teaching module and programme exclusively for differently-abled students.

The course was developed using free software application GCompris and has a total of 119 activities in eight different sections, Project Executive Director K Anvar Sadath said here today.

"The software has been packed with activities infusing reading, numericals, colours along with different games to help hearing impaired, visually challenged and orthopedically handicapped students," he told reporters.

He claimed that differential capabilities found in students like lack of memory, attention loss, lack of hand-eye co-ordination could be overcome significantly through training by using the customised software.
