J-K Govt wants all websites carrying links to US video blocked

J&K Kashmir anticipates more violence if the links are not removed from the concerned websites

GN Bureau | September 20, 2012

Jammu and Kashmir government today asked the Cyber Law Division of the Union Information Technology Ministry today to block over a dozen website links carrying the anti-Islam video which had sparked protests all over the world, including Kashmir.

"Some of the URLs have already been blocked but few are still accessible on the Internet," official sources told the Pioneer.

"Barring stray incidents of violence, protests against the anti-Islam video have remained peaceful so far but the vested interests can exploit the prevailing sentiment by giving the protests a different hue"

The state government on Wednesday condemned the anti-Islam video during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
