Buoyed by the success of SMS scheme, the Himachal Pradesh Police today launched an online programme for registration of complaints.

"A complainant can just log on to newly-designed web portal 'Kannon Vayavastha' for filing complaints," a top police officer said.

"This facility will prove helpful especially for foreign tourists who will now be able to register themselves online through an interactive police web portal," DGP I D Bhandari said.

Since the launch of the SMS facility, 4,392 messages had been received, police officers said.

Out of these, 82 had been converted into FIRs, they said.

People could even pay their challans for violation of the Motor Vehicle Act online, they said.

"If some complainant is not satisfied with the police action, the web portal even provides the facility to paste comments," they said.
