A teenager, arrested for posting "objectionable" material about the ongoing unrest in Kashmir Valley on a social networking site, was today released keeping in view his young age, police said.

"Keeping in view the young age of the arrested and that he is a student, the boy was released today with no charge leveled against him," a police spokesman said.

Earlier this week, police had arrested Faizan Samad, a resident of Chandpora from Harwan, "for posting objectionable notes on a popular social networking site, which put to threat the lives and property of several respectable citizens as well as maligned their character".

Although the spokesman did not name those maligned in his Facebook post, Faizan had reportedly uploaded a list of senior police officers posted in the Valley.

During questioning, Faizan said he had copied the "objectionable note" from the wall post of another unidentified social network user, the spokesman said.

"Net surfers are requested to take necessary care while making any comment on Internet blogs or uploading material which could lead to consequences causing irreparable harm to the life or reputation of any citizen," he said.
