Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda on Monday announced that fledgling Pragya Kendras, a component of e-governance to provide common service centres (CSCs) accessible to rural people, would be connected with a newly launched private website. "Pragya Kendras will be connected with JharkhandStateNews.com to enable information services of government welfare projects to a large section of the rural areas," Munda said in Ranchi.

Launching the website spearheaded by veteran journalist Manoj Prasad, Munda said, Pragya Kendras were still in the initial stage but the state was committed for dissemination of information regarding all the social welfare schemes. "This will also help us to go ahead with ePanchayat to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas vis-a-vis making information network accessible to rural areas as well," he added.

In her address Mridula Sinha, principal secretary, social welfare, women and child development, said latest information on everything would help everyone, particularly students who could know dates for filling up forms for competitive examinations through the website. S K Satpathy, principal secretary, water resources, said what globalization could not done 'googlisation' has done it, connecting and reflecting massive data.

Harivansh, editor of hindi daily "The Prabhat Khabar" said a passionate effort could do wonders. Prasad, the head of the website said, his new venture is engaged in providing services in sectors such as library, writing, editing, film making, bill boarding, media planning, document keeping and telephone numbers from a plumber to doctor to enable their services to the people across the state at the click of the mouse 24x7.
