The Ministry of Corporate Affairs today said it has been providing various government agencies with the required information relating to the companies involved in the 2G spectrum scam, but is not carrying out any investigations of its own.

MCA clarified that it is not carrying out investigations into the affairs of the telecom companies that are alleged to have got 2G licences and spectrum (radio waves) fraudulently.

"No suo-moto investigation is being carried out by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs into telecom companies involved in 2G Spectrum case within the Provisions of the Companies Act 1956," said an official statement.

"However, clarification and/or information are provided as and when requested by other Departments Agencies of the Government," it added.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) had earlier asked the MCA for the shareholding pattern of Swan Telecom (now Etisalat DB), which is alleged to be the front company of Anil Ambani led Reliance Communication (RCom).

However, in its report to the DoT, MCA said that Reliance Communications never had more than 9.90 per cent stake in the company.
