Tera Software gets Rs 45 cr contract from Govt of Maharashtra

To implement UID project 26 tehsils and 15 municipal corporations

IT firm Tera Software today said it has received a contract worth Rs 45 crore from the Government of Maharashtra under the Unique Identification number (UID) project Aadhaar.

The company has received a letter of intent from the State of Maharashtra in 36 Tehsils and 15 Municipal Corporations including Greater Mumbai, Navi-Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur and Nagpur to set provide IT related infrastructure, Tera Software said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The UIDAI's mandate is to issue every resident a unique identification number, linked to the resident's demographic and biometric information, which they can use to identify themselves anywhere in India and to access a host of benefits and services.

The value of the work order would be Rs 45 crore covering 1.5 crore population over a period of one year. This would enable the company to fulfill its aim to be in the first five companies to deliver the services in the UIDAI (AADHAAR) project, the filing added.
