Tripura has no objection to CBI probe for 'Aadhaar'

Rural Development Minister Jitendra Chowdhury said that no unlawful activity was found in the spending of Rs 15 crore, allocated for welfare schemes

The Tripura government has no objection to a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the spending of central funds for Aadhaar scheme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar told the Assembly.

Replying to a question asked by Leader of Opposition Ratan Lal Nath, Sarkar said the state government had no objection in requesting the CBI to investigate the alleged irregularities in implementation of the Aadhar scheme.

Earlier, replying to the queries raised by Nath, Rural Development Minister Jitendra Chowdhury told the House that no unlawful activity was found in the spending of Rs 15 crore, allocated by the central government for implementing the scheme.

Nath, however, alleged that a scam of Rs 8 lakh was involved in the Aadhar scheme implementation.
