VOC Port selects L&T Infotech for e-sail

The selection was through a competitive bidding with participation from major IT players

The VOC Port here has selected Chennai-based L&T Infotech for implementation of a Rs 19.75 crore web-enabled integrated electronic port information system.

The work agreement for 'e-sail' (electronic systems and information logistics) was signed here on Monday by VOC Port Chairman A Subbiah and L&T Infotech President R A Swamy.

L&T Infotech was selected through a competitive bidding in which other major IT players such as Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and TCS participated, a port release said.

Subbiah said the Project was scheduled to be completed within 12 months.

In 2014, the port would handle 50 million tones of cargo and 100 million in 2021.

The port users, the port management and the stakeholders would be benefitted by this project.
