Shimla airport’s expansion work begins

Airports authority of India (AAI) has started undertaking restoration and expansion work at the Shimla airport.
 
The government has made a budgetary provision of Rs 124.22 crore for restoration, extension of apron to accommodate VIP aircraft along with schedule aircraft operation for ATR-42 at the airport. Measures have been taken such as reconstruction of slide areas and stabilisation of slopes, toe walls, provision of Coir Mat erosion control blankets, Turt Mats, improvement of drainage system to check soil erosion.
Jayant Sinha, minister of state, ministry of civil aviation, gave this information in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
