Narendra Kumar Nada, director (technical) NMDC has been recommended for the post of the chairman and managing director (CMD) by Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB).

The recommendation has been made after the government head hunter interviewed four others including Gopal Singh, CMD of Central Coalfields.

PESB will send the recommendation to the department of public enterprises, which in turn will send it to the ministry of steel for consideration.
After getting the necessary clearances from CVC and other agencies, the ministry will send it to the appointments committee of the cabinet for approval. The whole process will take a few weeks.

At present Bharathi S Sihag, additional secretary and financial advisor to the steel ministry, is holding the additional charge as CMD of the iron ore company from January 1 after the previous CMD Narendra Kothari retired on December 31, 2015.

PESB had earlier recommended the name of Gopal Singh for NMDC's top post. However, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had rejected the PESB recommendation and asked it to start afresh the selection process for the post.
