Private news-channels usually ignore Parliamentary proceedings, except the unruly scenes and disruptions which are considered ‘newsworthy’ and TRP-feed. The government should make it compulsory for all private news-channels to relay one main evening news bulletin covering Parliament news. The content can be taken from the Doordarshan channels.

At the same time Doordarshan can make its telecast of the parliamentary proceedings lively by airing some of the happenings in the Houses.Doordarshan should also make Parliament-News lively by including video-clippings from day’s proceedings in Parliament.

News, otherwise, has become sensationalism with focus on crime and scandals. So, few selected programmes of national importance should be compulsorily telecast live on private news-channels.
