Salboni is one of the twenty-nine blocks of West Midnapore district in West Bengal. It is under teh Medinipur Sadar subdivision anmd 409 villages and 10 panchayats. 

Area: 559.41 sq km

Topography: Red, alluvial soil

Population: Nearly two lakh (census 2011)

                   Males: 84,247 (census 2001)

                   Females: 80,946 (census 2001)

                   Constituents: Scheduled Caste, OBCs, Muslims and tribal

Health infrastructure: Three primary health centres (PHCs)

                                     One rural hospital

Trivia:

Jindal South West  (JSW) Steel signed a pact with the then Left Front government in West Bengal to set up a 10 million tonne production capacity steel plant in Salboni. It is the largest investment made in the state till date. 

Salboni is also the home of the Reserve Bank of India's currency printing press. The Bharatiya Reserve bank Note Mudran Pvt. Ltd., an RBI subsidiary, runs the press in the ouskirts of the town area.
