An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was removed from field duties for alleged negligence in dealing with a case related to disrobing of two women at Chayan village by a group of 8-10 persons, police said.

The action against the ASI, T N Bais was taken by the Rajgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Asha Mathur as he neither registered a case under relevant sections against the accused nor did he take effective action against them, according to the police.

Two women were allegedly undressed by a group of persons in an agriculture field on June 4 following a land dispute.

Later, the women went to the police station to register an FIR in the case, but Nain diluted the complaint by registering the case under less stringent sections of the IPC.

Taking the issue seriously, the SP removed Nain from field duties and added more relevant sections against the accused.

Four persons were arrested in the case while search is on to nab the other accused, police said.
