Airport metro crosses last hurdle

But green signal comes with rider, CMRS asks Delhi Metro to reduce line's speed limit from 120 km/hr to 105 km/hr

GN Bureau | January 11, 2011

The Delhi Metro's Airport Express Line is expected to start operation this week as the commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) gave it's nod to the project on Monday.

However, the CMRS has asked the Delhi Metro to reduce the line's speed limit from 120 km/hr to 105 km/hr.

Other than the restricted speed, the trains will have to run at 20 km/hr when they cross the under construction stations of Dhaula Kuan and Aerocity. The four stations on the line that will operate when it opens to the public are New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, IGI Airport and Dwarka sector 21.
