Alagiri on leave, off to US

Took PMO permission for private visit

GN Bureau | May 11, 2010

Union minister for fertilisers M K Alagiri is on leave from ministerial assignment for 10 days from today, as he is on a private visit to the US, to meet his daughter and her child there. Interestingly, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) approved his USA visit. Last week he was in the Maldives, again with the PMO's permission.

The DMK leader has been hitting headlines for not attending parliament or cabinet meetings, and now he is on vacation again.

AIADMK leaders say Alagiri should be made a minister without portfolio considering that he is not able to devote time to his ministry.
