Bureaucrat under CVC scanner for fixing gas allocation prices that led to losses

GN Bureau | March 31, 2010

Chemical and fertilisers minister M K Alagiri has ordered a preliminary CVC inquiry against Deepak Singhal, a UP cadre IAS and joint secretary (fertilisers), after the allegations that gas allocation prices decided by the bureaucrat led to losses for the state exchequer.

Amar Singh, MP, has alleged that Singhal fixed gas allocation prices much before it was decided by the petroleum ministry. Singhal comes from an influential industrial family in Uttar Pradesh.
