The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially launched a Multilingual Module on its E-Cinepramaan portal, now fully deployed and live for public use. This development marks a significant step in CBFC’s ongoing efforts to digitize and simplify the film certification process for the Indian film industry.

CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi said that the new feature introduced as an optional add-on to the existing process aims to streamline certification for films releasing in multiple Indian languages. The module allows applicants to submit various language versions of a film through a single, unified application, reducing procedural duplication and saving time for filmmakers.

Under the new system, each film cleared for multilingual release will receive a Multilingual Certificate  which will list all certified languages. The initiative aligns with the rise of pan-India cinema  offering filmmakers a smoother mechanism to reach diverse linguistic audiences across the country.

Key Features of the multilingual film certification module are:

Single Application: Upload and submit all language versions simultaneously via the E-Cinepramaan portal.

Unified Certificate: A single certificate granting multilingual status specifying all approved languages.

Streamlined Processing: One regional office will process the entire application ensuring consistency and efficiency.

CBFC emphasized its continued commitment to transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in the film certification process, adapting to the evolving needs of India’s dynamic film industry.
