Eight political, bureaucratic and corporate heavyweights are on the CBI radar for arrests in the 2G case. Former telecom minister A Raja, lobbyist Niira Radia, Raja's private secretary R K Chandoli and former deputy director general (acess services) at the telecom department A K Shrivastava, are four which could come as early as the coming week, according to sources.

Two high-ranking telecom department officials are tipped for arrest next week which will be followed by the arrests of raja and Radia.

The agency listed the people it is considering arresting at a meeting of top CBI officers on Saturday. Senior CBI officials said that the director of the agency has been kept in the loop over proceedings in the case.

Four other arrests may be made in the hawala connection, which might include Sathik Padsha and M Jain.

The agency is looking at making the high profile arrests as it has to submit a first interim report on its 2G probe to the supreme court by the end of January.

The legal wing of the CBI will infom the SC of the fifteen major aspects of the interrogation report.
