JPC chief P C Chacko on Wednesday accepted public accounts committee chairman Murli Manohar Joshi's suggestion that he should write to him on the issue of "parallel probe" by two committees into the 2G spectrum scam.

Chacko, who earlier made it clear that PAC should confine itself to looking into the CAG report on the 2G spectrum scam, said he would write to Joshi on the matter "today itself."

"Definitely I will write to him. It is a good suggestion. I take it in true spirit," the JPC chairman told reporters.

Asked whether he still maintained that there was no need of "parallel probe", Chacko said, "That probably, he (Joshi) also understands that. That's why he said he will not deny what I have said. He only said that I should write to him. That is in the right spirit. We will write to him."

The senior Congress leader said the committee will discuss on "the correct perspective" of the mandate of the PAC and the duty entrusted to JPC in its first meeting on March 24.

"He (Joshi) also understands what I have said. The only thing is that procedurally whether I should make a statement outside or write. He is right and I will definitely write to him," Chacko said.

On whether he was accepting that his statement to the media was a mistake, Chacko said, "It is not a mistake. When you ask me what I am going to do, I have to react. I did not hold any press conference. I did not do any briefing or anything. Some press friends asked me, I gave my opinion."

"At the same time Joshi feels ...as a seasoned parliamentarian...he is right... and if he feels that I should have written to him, I will not delay. I will write to him today itself," he added.

Joshi has maintained that PAC had wide-ranging powers which go beyond examining just the CAG reports on various issues.
