Community kitchen centres in Ganjam district

CKC would help schools to cook mid-day meal using cooking gas, which will be provided by public sector oil companies

The administration in Orissa's Ganjam district has decided to set up community kitchen centres in association with oil companies to cook mid-day meals for schools.

In the first phase, the administration has decided to set up such centres in at least 100 schools where the student strength is over 500.

District collector VK Pandian has asked the MLAs and members of the Zilla Parishad to furnish the list of the schools in their respective areas to start this centre.

He said the CKC would help the schools to cook the mid-day meal using cooking gas, which will be provided by public sector oil companies.

The oil company will provide four LPG cylinders, five single burner stoves, two pressure regulators, seven surakhya hoses and other ancillary articles to run the center.

The CKC project is part of the Central governments Vision-2015 programme to make the domestic LPG available to the poor and deprived sections of the society. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has formulated the project.
