Delhi govt increases circle rates of properties

New circle rates to come into force from February 8

Delhi government has revised circle rates for registration of valuation of lands and immovable properties in the capital.

The new rates will come into force with effect from February 8, 2011.

“The revised rates shall be taken into consideration for registration of instruments relating to land and immovable properties in Delhi by all the registering authorities,” said Delhi revenue minister Rajkumar Chauhan, adding that a decision to increase the existing circle rates was taken in order to mitigate the black money circulation in property transaction in Delhi.

The circle rate of properties determines the minimum rate of the land depending on the category of colonies it falls in.

Delhi can be divided into eight categories according to circle rates.

This is the first time that the Delhi government has increased circle rats after their introduction in 2007.

“Even after this revision the circle rates are still lower than what they are in the adjacent areas in Haryana and UP,” said the minister.
