To explore the possibility of running metro rail service in Bhopal, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will carry out a survey and give its feasibility report soon to Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration Department (MPUAD).

The DMRC will complete the survey in six months for which it had received an amount of Rs 50 lakh, officials said adding a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between the MPUAD and DMRC in this regard, officials concerned said today.

The MoU was signed by DMRC director Mangulal and MPUAD principal secretary Raghav Chandra in New Delhi on Monday, they said.

The DMRC will survey the possible route among other things for starting the metro rail services in Bhopal.

It was a big beginning, Madhya Pradesh urban administration and development minister Babulal Gaur said.

He said that the work will take time but once accomplished it will provide the ultra-modern public transport system to the people of Bhopal.

Gaur said that if the metro rail system works out, the congestion on road will come down which will also lower the chances of fatal accidents as well.
