Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar issued instruction on Monday that all 700 women employees should get car drop facilities after 7 pm and 8 pm in winter and summer, respectively.  Agreeing to a suggestion from Lok Sabha employees Kumar said that women employees should not face hardship in their travel back home. The decision came following complaints of eve teasing.

Such measure may cost the LS secretariat huge financial implications, however, the circular issued on Monday speak of henceforth availability of this facility to women employees. The decision comes as a relief to women employees of LS secretariat.

K Srinivasan secretary general of Lok Sabha Employees Association sought Kumar’s intervention in eight major welfare policy issues. Kumar has agreed to attend to these grievances of 3000 employees on merit basis.

Kumar asked T K Viswanathan secretary general to meet the employees association at frequent intervals and redress their problems.

Kumar also agreed to build 250 flats for LS employees in RK Puram Sector 1, a huge DDA land which was allotted to LS staff in 1998. Now the Speaker since initiated construction details from CPWD, employees are relieved of housing facilities.
