Governance Now is organizing a seminar on Investor Education in association with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The event is on Thursday, 10th Feb, 2011 in the ML Bhartia Auditorium in Alliance Francaise, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi.

This seminar is particularly aimed at retail investors. They decrease the volatility of the economy as they are generally conservative. It is also a healthy sign for a country when people are confident enough to invest their money as opposed to just saving it with banks or post office schemes.

It is clear that we need this base to grow, but the reverse has been true for India. There has been a constant flight of retail investors from the market due to various reasons leading to the general distrust with the equity markets.

This trust needs to be restored by adequately educating the investor.

The event begins at 9.30 with an inaugural address by the Mr. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary, Ministry Corporate Affairs . It will be followed by panel discussions on ‘Ethical Markets: Making money the right way’ and ‘Sound Investing: Best practices & spotting the scammers’.

The closing address will be given by Shri Salman Khurshid, Honourable Minister for Corporate Affairs.
