Law minister Veerappa Moily today voiced the government's displeasure over former central vigilance commissioner Pratyush Sinha's comment on corruption in India. Without naming the recently retired CVC, Moily termed the comment "frustrating", saying that it could send the wrong message to the world.

"One should not discredit his own government - especially, with a prime minister like Dr. Manmohan Singh, the comment is very ill-timed," Moily said at the ongoing 5th Annual RTI Convention here. The minister also said that the comment hurt the nation's pride and demanded an apology from the "offcial" in this regard.

Sinha had earlier told the newspaper Mint that a third of Indians were "utterly corrupt" and half were "borderline" cases.
