Karnataka govt to rehabilitate under "Aasare" scheme

Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa today said instructions have been issued to complete handing over 40,000 houses by this month-end to beneficiaries of "Aasare" scheme, designed for rehabilitating flood-affected villages in north Karnataka in 2009.

Under the scheme, the government embarked on building 59,000 houses.

Of the remaining 19,000 houses, Yeddyurappa said some 14,000-15,000 would be handed over by first week of July.

Officials said handing-over ceremony is lined up in the districts of Raichur, Bagalkote and Koppal districts this week.
