HP promoting self-employment among youth: Dhumal

Himachal chief minister says his government is working towards facilitating self-employment in youth through various schemes

The Himachal Pradesh government is trying to facilitate self-employment among youths through beneficial schemes like Deendayal Kisan Bagwan Yojna, Doodh Ganga Yojna and apple rejuvenation programme, the state Assembly was informed today.

Replying to a question of Congress MLA G S Bali, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said there were 5.14 lakh unemployed youth registered in the state as on January 31.

Dhumal also said that the government has decided to computerise all the employment exchanges in the state in 2010-11.

He said that in December last year, a total of 8.5 lakh people registered in different employment exchanges out of which 36 per cent were found bogus and the final figure at the end of January this year was 5.14 lakh.

HP has a population of nearly 70 lakh.

The chief minister said many persons had registered their name in more than one place while some others had done so despite getting a job.
