Khemka reveals details of Vadra's scams

Congress chief's son-in-law used forges documents and fake deals to sale land at a premium

GN Bureau | August 10, 2013

Senior IAS officer, Ashok Khemka, in a report submitted to the Haryana government, has alleged that Robert Vadra, son-in-law of congress chief Sonia Gandhi, used false documents and executed a series of sham transaction for the sale of a 3.5 acre land to real estate giant DLF for Rs. 58 crore, The Hindu newspaper reported today.

Khemka, in his 100 page report submitted to the state government in May, said Vadra used false registration documents for the 3.5 acre land in Shikohpur village of Gurgaon.

The report also alleged that Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited made no payment of Rs. 7.5 crore as mentioned in the land registration certificate.

Khemka, who headed state’s land records department till last year, had cancelled Vadra's deal with DLF and ordered an inquiry to find out if he had been sold land at large discounts.

Soon after Khemka ordered the enquiry he was transferred.

Following the public outcry over the suspicious land dealing by Vadra, the Haryana government formed a committee to enquire into the allegations. The committee indicted Khemka for cancelling the land deal calling above board.

Khemka submitted his 100 page report in reply the committees report exonerating Vadra.

According to the newspaper report, Khemka in his report stated that both the sale deed of February 12, 2008 — through which Mr. Vadra’s company, Skylight Hospitality, bought the land from Onkareshwar Properties — and the letter of intent for granting a commercial licence to his company issued by the DTCP in March 2008 are sham transactions, executed only to enable Mr. Vadra to collect market premium accruing to him due to state largesse.

The fresh allegation against Vadra is set to create uproar in the political circles, especially since the parliament is in session.
