Tamil actor Kushboo has joined M Karunanidhi's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) contrary to popular speculation of her choosing to allign with the Congress.

Hours after her joining, word is doing rounds that she could also get the party's backing for a Presidential nomination to the Rajya Sabha with Karunanidhi wanting to have a Hindi-speaking face of DMK liasing with the UPA.

Her induction, in the backdrop of the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, is being seen as a move to pitch the popular actor against AIADMK supremo Jayalaitha.

DMK MP and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, according to sources, was instrumental in Kushboo's entry into the party.

Interestingly, Kushboo used to anchor a popular TV program on AIADMK-alligned Jaya TV before she joined DMK.
