More than a week after conducting raids at Thane's RTO office, sleuths of ACB today raided several RTO offices in different parts Maharashtra after receiving inputs on alleged diversion of commercial vehicles tax and illegal activities being carried out there.

"Raids are being conducted at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in Navi Mumbai, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and Pimpri- Chinchwad cities. Based on leads got after the raid at Thane's RTO office, we are conducting these raids today," a senior Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official told PTI.

During surprise visits, huge volume of documents from the RTO officers were seized, which would be thoroughly verified, the official added.

On October 22, the ACB officials had seized Rs 10 lakh unaccounted cash from Thane RTO office during raids after the information that a racket was being operated in connivance with government officials, and tax pertaining to commercial vehicles was collected by issuing fake challans, the ACB said.

Some other illegal activities had also come to their notice, the officials said.
