Armed Maoists blew up a state-run school building at Barhara in Chakkarbandha forest in naxal-hit Gaya district late last night, police said.

Over fifty ultras armed with sophisticated weapons surrounded the school, commanded the villagers watching a cultural programme to leave the premises and detonated dynamites to blow up the building.

The building was earlier being used as a CRPF camp, the police said.

Raids were on in the forest area to apprehend the ultras.
