Minister of State for defence M M Pallam Raju has said that all efforts are being taken to set up a mini fishing at Uppada village in the east Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

"The feasibility survey has been conducted for setting up a 'mini fishing' in the village. After its completion, the state Chief Minister K Rosaiah will release the funds for the purpose," Raju told reporters here yesterday.

A special finance committee will visit the village and assess the employment opportunities there, he said.

The state and the central government are taking all measures to develop infrastructure facilities to fishermen in this region, Raju said.

"With the development of this project, fishermen will be benefited and their problems will be solved including unemployment," he said adding boats and nets will be distributed to them.

The minister was in the village to inaugurate 'Pandugoppula Harvesting Mela' through open sea floating case.

The event was sponsored by Regional Central Marine Fishermen Research Institute at Visakhapatnam.
