No Parl appearance this session for Sibal's bills

Tabling of all four bills stands deferred as Rajya Sabha chairman extends deadline for parliamentary standing committee reports

Human resources development minister Kapil Sibal may have to wait for the next session of Parliament for the tabling of his pet bills even if the opposition rests it ongoing blockade on proceeedings in both Houses.

Tabling of all four bills Sibal has been championing practically stand deferred as Rajya Sabha chairman has extended the deadline for the parliamentary standing committee reports on them.

The reports on controversial National Accreditation Regulatory Authority for High Educational Institutions bill, the Foreign Educational Institutions bill, and the Prohibition of Unfair Practices in technical and medical education institutions and universities bill can now be submitted by the new deadline of January 31, 2011.

The deadline for the report on the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Bill has been extended to December 31. The committee may also submit the reports on the Architects (Amendment) Bill on December 31 and the Copyright (Amendment) Bill on November 26.
