No incident of violence reported

PTI | February 15, 2011

About 70 per cent polling was recorded in the bypoll at Sanjari Ballod assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh's Durg district today, officials said.

No incident of violence was reported during the polling, though there was a clash between workers of two parties in Gurur village which was brought under control soon, they said.

The bypoll was necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA Madan Lal Sahu of BJP.

The main battle here is between BJP candidate Kumaribai, who is Sahu's wife, and Congress contestant Mohan Patel.

The counting of votes will be done on February 17.

There are 187 polling booths in the constituency, including 27 sensitive and six hyper-sensitive, the official said.
