Planning commission (PC) member B K Chaturvedi has called for speedy and timely execution of various infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh especially around the border areas.

Chaturvedi along with PC advisor S N Brahma Chowdury on Sunday reviewed the progress of various projects in AP under the prime minister's package and centrally sponsored projects and called for speedy implementation of the projects, official sources said.

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Dorjee Khandu requested the visiting PC team for sanctioning eight major projects to address the state's infrastructural bottleneck, the sources said.

The proposals include 132 KV Trans-Arunachal grid, drinking water facility in border blocks, porter tracks and foot suspension bridges and log bridges in border areas connecting 22 unconnected administrative centres along the international border and expediting the construction of the greenfield airport, sources informed.

Chaturvedi and Brahma Chowdhury along with Khandu on Sunday inspected the ongoing work on the Rs 77.25 crore Itanagar drinking water supply project (Phase II), Rs 130 crore secretariat building, Rs 60 crore assembly building and Rs 75 crore speaker's residence and MLAs' apartments, they said.

The team will visit Tuting and Singa along the Indo-Sino border in Upper Siang district and Pasighat in East Siang district on Monday to assess the progress of various central projects before concluding their three-day visit, sources added.
