PM seeks former CJI's help in Lokpal mediations

Justice J S Varma will meet Team Anna members, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan on Thursday

Looks like in the government knocked all doors to help it salvage the Anna Hazare protest-fast situation. Prime minister Manmohan Singh wrote to former chief justice of India J S Varma on Tuesday, seeking his help in resolving the crisis that has emerged after Hazare's arrest and subsequent protests.

Varma had advised his friends within  the government to handle the Jan Lokpal issue with care.

He is believed to be a close friend of the co-chairman of the joint drafting committee on Lokpal and Team Anna member Shanti Bhushan. Hence, the government is keen on his help.

Varma is expected to meet Bhushan and his son Prashant on Thursday afternoon.
