A group of civil society activists here today staged a dharna demanding removal of Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan from the joint drafting committee on Lokpal Bill.

Demanding an independent inquiry into the allegations of corruption against the father-son duo, the activists of National RTI Forum said they should be kept out of the committee till the probe against them is over.

"There should be an independent high level inquiry into the charges of corruption against against the Bhushans and till the time it is over, they should be kept out of the committee," said Nutan Thakur, convener of National Right To Information (RTI) Forum.

Thakur said they will intensify the agitation if the government does not take action within a fortnight.

"It is unfortunate that Anna Hazare is avoiding the question and saying that only Bhushans can answer this, while he should have immediately pounced and asked for appropriate action against them. He should ensure that Bhushans are out of the committee," Thakur said.
