Normal life continues to be disrupted for the second day in the Seemandhra regions where bandh is being observed in protest against Centre's decision to divide Andhra Pradesh into two states.  Traffic disruptions and violence has been reported from Ananthapur, Kurnool, Chittor and Vijayawada districts.

Andhra Pradesh non-gazetted officers (APNGOs) and other united-AP supporters have given a 48-hour bandh call, while Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSR Congress has called for 72-hour shutdown in the non-Telangana regions. Educational and commercial establishments remained closed in Seemandhra.
YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy began an indefinite fast from today to protest against the Centre's decision to divide Andhra Pradesh by carving out one of its three regions, Telangana, as a new state. Reddy's party is expecting a massive turnout for the protest fast from the other two regions of the state, Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh. . According to sources, the 40-year-old leader's fast will continue till October 18 when he is planning a huge public rally in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, IG (coastal Andhra) said, they have deployed additional forces keeping in view attacks on residences and properties of some Congress leaders yesterday. "Additional forces have been deployed in some areas and situation was under control. As long as agitations are peaceful we have no objection. But if they turn violent then we will swing into action and file cases," he said. Sporadic incidents of violence, including attack on public property have been reported.

Offices of ruling Congress came under attack from agitators in several districts. Commercial and educational establishments belonging to PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana were also targeted and police have stepped up security at these locations and also in sensitive areas.
Devotees in Tirumala have been affected as bus services have been crippled by the protests. The pro-united Andhra employees, including the staff of state-run Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), have been on strike since mid-August.

At a press conference on Friday Jagan Reddy had appealed to the entire country to ‘come and protest against this injustice’
