Rajasthan government has made special provisions in the 2010-11 state budget for improving the living conditions of Sahariya tribe in Baran district.

"The district administration is taking necessary measures for implementing the proposals announced in the budget aimed at benefiting around one lakh Sahariya tribals living in the district, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sahabad, Mukatanand Agrawal said.

"The benefits which were earlier meant only for the Sahariyas of Sahabad and Kinshanganj sub-divisions have now been extended to the entire Sahariya population of the district," he said.

Two residential schools and an ITI institute for Sahariya tribal students and 50 Maa-Baadi Shiksha Kendra would also be opened, Agrawal said.

"Maa-Badi Shiksha Kendras currently running in the district and the employees working there would guide Sahariya population in availing the benefits of various schemes," he said.

"The debt-ridden Sahariya families would be given 200 days employment under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA)," he said.

An agro-processing unit is going to be set up at Sagawada village and land has been allotted for the purpose, he said.

When asked about the fresh budget package, villagers in the district said that water and electricity supply needs drastic improvement.
